What is a Tumescent liposuction
Tumescent liposuction is one of the most commonly performed forms of outpatient liposuction and is designed to help remove stubborn fat deposits that may not respond to diet and exercise.
This procedure typically does not require general anesthesia. When performed by a qualified provider, it can safely remove fat from many areas of the body, including Face, Neck, Chin, Breast, Stomach, Hips, Flanks, Back, Thighs (Inner and Outer), Buttocks, Knees, Calves, Ankles.

Liposuction is also used to remove lipomas (benign fatty tumors), treat excessive underarm sweating, and reduce enlarged male and female breasts
Prepare for Liposuction
Tumescent liposuction typically includes a physical examination, medical history review, and personalized pre-procedure instructions. Your provider may recommend photographs for your medical record and will review all medications and supplements, including over-the-counter products, and advise you on what to stop and when prior to treatment.

How Liposuction Gets Done
The procedure involves injecting a tumescent solution (often containing saline, lidocaine, and epinephrine) into targeted areas with excessive fatty deposits. This solution causes the tissue to become firm and swollen, helping the provider sculpt the area with improved control.
The tumescent technique may also reduce blood loss and can help minimize bruising, swelling, and discomfort during recovery. After the solution takes effect, a small incision is made and a thin tube (cannula) is inserted and connected to a suction device.
Fat is removed through a sterile collection system, and an elastic compression garment is typically worn afterward to support healing and help the skin contract.

The Recovery Process
Many patients remain alert and comfortable after treatment and do not experience the nausea or grogginess associated with general anesthesia. Post-procedure discomfort is often manageable and your provider will discuss appropriate pain control options (commonly including Tylenol when suitable). Walking is encouraged soon after the procedure. Light activity is typically resumed within a few days, while more strenuous exercise may be resumed based on your provider’s guidance. Larger swelling often improves within days, but it can take three to four months for swelling to fully resolve. In some cases, the full benefit of treatment may be most noticeable around six months.

Common questions about tumescent liposuction in Modesto, CA.
What is tumescent liposuction?
Tumescent liposuction is an outpatient technique that uses a special solution (commonly saline, lidocaine, and epinephrine) to firm the targeted area and improve comfort. This approach can help reduce bleeding and may minimize bruising and swelling while allowing more precise contouring.
Does tumescent liposuction require general anesthesia?
In many cases, tumescent liposuction is performed without general anesthesia. Your provider will discuss the safest and most appropriate comfort options for your needs, based on the areas being treated and your medical history.
How long is the recovery after liposuction?
Recovery varies by treatment area and how much fat is removed. Many patients return to light activity within a few days and follow compression garment instructions for best results. Swelling typically improves over weeks, while final results may become more noticeable over 3–6 months.
When will I see results?
Some contour changes may be visible soon after treatment, but swelling can temporarily mask results. As swelling decreases, your shape becomes more defined. Many patients see significant improvement within a few weeks, with continued refinement for several months.
Is liposuction a weight loss solution?
Liposuction is primarily a body contouring procedure designed to remove stubborn fat deposits. It is not a substitute for weight loss. The best candidates are typically near a stable, healthy weight and looking to refine specific areas that don’t respond to diet and exercise.
